Longview, TX : Jefferson High School student killed in wreck in Marion County on Friday afternoon, March 31, 2017

A Jefferson High School student was killed Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle wreck in Marion County.

Angel Rivers, 16, died after the car she was driving left the road, hit a tree and caught fire, the Department of Public Safety said.

The wreck happened on FM 726 about 11 miles west of Jefferson.

Jefferson High School Principal Michael Walker said Saturday that he is meeting with staff today to discuss a plan of action for school on Monday.

"We will definitely have people available for our students to talk to," he said.
