Nashville, TN : Driver injured Guardrail impales SUV in Antioch crash on Wednesday afternoon, November 12, 2014

A young woman was injured and a child miraculously unharmed Wednesday afternoon in a serious crash in Antioch. It happened in the 6100 block of Pettus Road when an SUV struck the guardrail on a small bridge. The guardrail impaled the car from front to back, sticking out nearly 8 feet behind. The young driver became pinned inside and had to be rescued by emergency personnel. She was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries and had to undergo surgery. An update on her condition was not immediately known. Metro police told News 2 a young child was also in a car seat in the back at the time of the crash, but remained uninjured.
