One dead, another seriously injured in wrong way crash on 95
A wrong way crash on 95 south early Friday morning leaves one female dead and another clinging to life.
The southbound side of the highway was shut down for a few hours this morning after a head on collision around 3 a.m. The wrong way driver, traveling in a Honda Civic, was going north on the southbound side of the 95 between the Lonsdale and Smithfield Ave exits. The driver is female believed to be around 25-years-old.
Her vehicle struck an SUV with three people inside. One of the passengers in the SUV has died from their injuries.
The wrong way driver is currently hospitalized and being treated for life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV and the other passenger were taken to the hospital with broken bones.
The highway reopened around 5 a.m. this morning. State Police are continuing to investigate this matter. At this time it is unclear if alcohol or speed were factors. The victims name is being with held pending notification of the family.
