Tallahassee, FL : One person died in a car crash in north Leon County on Sunday evening, May 15, 2016
One person died in a Sunday evening car crash in north Leon County.
About 6:15 p.m., Leon County Sheriff's Office investigators arrived at North Meridian Road just south of County Road 12 where they discovered a wrecked black Chevrolet Tahoe. Investigators determined that the driver veered off the right side of the road as it approached a left curve. The driver then overcorrected, causing the SUV to spin out and crash into several trees, said Lt. Grady Jordan, spokesman for the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
The driver's side door of the SUV crashed into one of the trees, killing the driver. LCSO has not released the name of the victim, pending notification of the next of kin. A passenger was taken to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare with non-life threatening injuries.
Both occupants were from out of state. Jordan said alcohol is a possible contributing factor to the crash. LCSO's Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the crash.
