Beaumont,TX : Vidor Police ID bicyclist killed in Tuesday crash on October, Tuesday 3rd 2017
Vidor Police Department has identified the bicyclist killed Tuesday night after being struck by a car on a dark roadway.
Wesley Ray Hampshire, 65, of Kountze was hit while riding his bike around 7:47 p.m. on FM 105 South, Chief Rod Carroll said in a statement.
EMS workers performed CPR at the scene but Hampshire was pronounced dead by Orange County Justice of the Peace Judge Derry Dunn, Carroll said.
The driver of the car did not appear to be under the influence, Carroll said. The bicyclist was not wearing reflectors or lights, and preliminary reports indicate the driver did not see him.
The investigation is still ongoing. The victim's name will not be released until later today.
