Geauga County, OH : Montville Township man dies after motorcycle crash in in Newbury Township on Sunday evening, May 1, 2016
The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle vs. deer crash that occurred the evening of May 1 in Newbury Township.
According to a news release from Lt. Charles Gullett of the OHP Chardon Post:
A 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 54-year-old Danny Cole of Montville Township, had been traveling north on Route 44 near Route 87 shortly before 10 p.m.
The motorcycle struck a deer crossing the roadway, causing the Harley to overturn and eject Cole. The victim was transported to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center with serious injuries, and he later died from his injuries.
Cole had not been wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Newbury Township Fire Department, Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and Geauga Park District rangers also were at the scene.
