One person died and two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.
Emergency crews responded to a vehicle accident at 12:10 a.m. on Judy Drive.
The fatality victim, 19-year-old Midlothian resident Hunter Wilkerson, was riding as a passenger in a Mercedes Benz at the time of the wreck. The Mercedes was traveling southbound on Judy Drive, said Kyle Brandford, the Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper and Public Information Officer.
The vehicle left the east side of the roadway and rolled several times, ejecting the three occupants, Brandford said. It came to rest on its top, facing east. It then caught on fire.
Midlothian resident Lushai Artan, the 21-year-old driver of the vehicle, and passenger Tobbie Dobbie, a 19-year-old also from Midlothian, were both transported by helicopter to area hospitals because of injuries sustained during the accident.
Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Steve Egan was called out to the scene and pronounced Wilkerson deceased at 1:47 a.m. Egan ordered Wilkerson’s body to be taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for a full autopsy. The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this by DPS.
