Paulding, OH : Bryan man in serious condition after crash on U.S. 24 in Emerald Township on Wednesday, July 13, 2016

A Bryan, Ohio, man was injured Wednesday when his car and a wrecker collided on U.S. 24 in Paulding County’s Emerald Township, said troopers at the Van Wert post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Preston Downs, 19, the car driver, was flown by medical helicopter to ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was listed in serious condition Wednesday night.

Troopers said Mr. Downs’ car was southbound on County Road 143 trying to cross the eastbound lanes of U.S. 24, but was struck as it failed to yield to a wrecker driven by Cameron Renfer, 18, of Liberty Center, Ohio, which was eastbound on the highway.

The wrecker slid off the side of the road and overturned, but the driver claimed no injury, troopers said. The car slid into the median and came to rest.
