TUCSON, AZ : Young girl on bicycle hit killed in Tucson on Friday, 23rd February 2024

The Tucson Police Department has released more information on the fatal vehicle vs. bicyclist crash that happened on Friday, February 23, just before 5:30 p.m.

Police say 7-year-old Leilani Flores was riding her bike with another girl in a mobile home community on 1655 W. Ajo Way. Neither were wearing helmets and were riding on the wrong side of the road.

The investigation found the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was making a left turn to go southbound within the community when Flores was hit. The driver immediately stopped, rendered aid, and cooperated with the investigation. Flores was taken to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries and passed away shortly after. The other bicyclist had minor injuries.
