Phoenix, AZ : 5 teens involved in Peoria rollover wreck on Wednesday afternoon, February 8, 2017

A rollover crash of a car with five teens on board sent one person to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, Peoria police said.

Authorities said the single-car accident occurred near 75th Avenue and Jomax Road as the car was returning to the roadway after driving in the desert.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, said Tim Eiden, Peoria Fire Department spokesman.

Eiden said a 19-year-old woman also was in the car, along with three other boys between the ages of 15 and 16. The other teenagers suffered only minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital, Eiden said.

Officer Brandon Sheffert, a Peoria Police Department spokesman, said all occupants were able to get out of the vehicle and were "alert and conscious."

Sheffert said the teenagers appeared to be out in the desert and "lost control and rolled" when they came back onto the roadway. Impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash, he added.

It was not immediately known who was driving the vehicle at the time.
