THOMPSONVILLE, MI : 4-year-old dies in Benzie rollover crash on Sunday, 13th January 2019

A 4-year-old boy is dead after a woman rolled her vehicle and crashed into several trees at about 5 a.m. on Sunday in Benzie County, according to a report from the Benzie County Sheriff's Office.

A 22-year-old Beulah woman was heading northwest on Cadillac Highway in Weldon Township when she lost control of her vehicle on a curve, crossed the centerline, rolled and struck several trees, the report states.

The woman was the boy's mother, Benzie Undersheriff Kyle Rosa said. Their names have not yet been released.

The 4-year-old was in the back seat and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not properly restrained, the report states.

The woman was wearing her seat belt. She was treated for minor injuries at Munson Medical Center and has been released.
