Motorcyclist killed in northwest Vegas Valley crash named

Medical examiners released the name of a Las Vegas man who died in a motorcycle crash Monday in the northwest end of the valley.The Clark County Coroner's Office, though, did not immediately release the cause of death for Derrek Halback, 27.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the incident just after 8:45 a.m. Monday in the 6500 block of Centennial Center Boulevard near Grand Montecito Parkway.

Police said a motorcycle was heading southbound on Centennial when it struck a white Toyota Tacoma that was pulling out of a car dealership.

The motorcyclist was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
