London, OH : Plumwood man killed after crashing minivan in northern Madison County Friday night, March 3, 2017

A Plumwood man was killed in northern Madison County Friday night after the minivan he was driving went off the road and flipped.

Michael Davis, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County coroner.

The crash took place about 9:15 p.m. on State Route 38, near the intersection of State Route 161 in Pike Township, according to Lt. Jake Pyles of the West Jefferson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Davis was driving a black 2008 Chrysler Town & Country north when he lost control of car, going off the left side of the road. He overcorrected, causing the minivan to overturn on the roadway. The vehicle then went off the right side of the road and hit a ditch. The van came to rest in an open field after overturning.

Davis was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Pyles said speed is considered to be a contributing factor in the crash.

The patrol was assisted on scene by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Jerome Township EMS, Pleasant Valley EMS and Fire, Madison County Coroner’s Office and Barkers Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
