Norwalk,CT : Norwalk woman charged with DUI after striking light pole on November, Thursday 9th 2017
A Norwalk woman was charged with driving under the influence and evading responsibility after she allegedly struck a light pole early Thursday morning and left the scene, police said.
Police say they were notified of the accident at around 1:19 a.m. when a witness told them that they saw a car strike a pole on Water Street. The pole was knocked to the ground and the driver reportedly drove off.
Police say that they located Amy Jimenez driving the car with front end damage. According to police, she emitted a strong odor of alcohol and had bloodshot, glassy eyes.
Officers conducted standard field sobriety tests and said that Jimenez was unable to complete them satisfactorily.
Police said that Jimenez’s blood alcohol content registered .2039, more than twice the legal limit.
Her car was towed from the scene.
Jimenez, 61, of Splitrock Road, was charged with failure to drive in proper lane, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, evading responsibility and operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance.
Her bond was set at $500 and she was given a court date of Nov. 17.
