KINGSPORT, TN : 1 dead, 2 injured following Kingsport crash on Friday, 25th October 2024

A woman was killed and two other people were hurt in a crash that happened on Friday afternoon, according to the Kingsport Police Department.

Officers responded to the 100 block of S. Wilcox Drive and determined that a Toyota 4runner driven by 32-year-old Cari Coates was going southbound on S. Wilcox Drive. A Honda CRV enteredtraffic on W. Wilcox Drive from the Roadrunner Gas Station when it struck the passenger side of the Toyota, causing it to overturn.

Both Coates and the passenger of the Toyota were taken to area hospitals. Police said Coates was pronounced dead at Johnson City Medical Center.


Police saida juvenile passenger in the Honda sustained an injury not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Honda had no apparent injuries.
