STAFFORD, VA : Man sexually assaulted woman after car wreck on November, 1st October 2016

Authorities in Virginia were searching Tuesday for a man who they say dragged a young woman out of her car after their vehicles collided and sexually assaulted her.

The collision happened early Monday while both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Kings Highway in northern Virginia, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office public information officer M.C. Morris Moncure said.

The department won’t speculate about whether the crash was an accident or an intentional act, Morris Moncure told The Associated Press.

After the crash, the suspect removed the victim from her vehicle, dragged her to a ditch and sexually assaulted her over a two-hour period, the department said in a statement.

The suspect then left in his vehicle, a dark-colored SUV, and the victim called 911, according to the statement. Just as she was calling, a Stafford County deputy arrived on the scene.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released, Morris Moncure said Tuesday. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has not had any reports of similar assaults in the area, she said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male about 30 years old, 5’8? to 5’9?, weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He has black hair and a short black beard and was last seen wearing light-colored blue jeans and a sleeveless white tank top under an orange, blue and white plaid long-sleeved shirt.

There may be orange paint transfer and damage to the suspect’s vehicle, the department said.
