Terre Haute, IN : Car crashes into home at 15th and Crawford on Sunday, March 5th 2017
Around noon today, Terre Haute police responded to an accident at 15th and Crawford streets in which a car crashed into a home.
Two people inside the home were not injured; the driver of the car sustained minor injuries.
The accident happened at 631 S. 15th St.
Upon investigation, officers arrested the driver on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle without financial responsibility and operator never licensed.
The suspect has been transported to a local hospital, where is he is receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
One of the residents, Michelle Conner, had been sitting on a sofa playing video games when the car crashed into the house, just feet from where she sat. She showed tire marks on the front door and scattered debris from the accident. "I screamed like hell," she said. "He hit pretty freaking hard."
Christopher Cook, who owns the home and moved there a few months ago, was asleep at the time — but his girlfriend's screams woke him up. He said he doesn't have insurance but plans to make his own repairs, with the help of friends.
