A multi-car crash forced the shutdown of Interstate 91 southbound for almost an hour Friday night in Wethersfield, snarling traffic for miles behind the pile up.
The crash occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. just before Exit 24 and required crews to shut down all the highway lanes for more than 45 minutes to assess the drivers and passengers involved, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
Two lanes were reopened at about 9:20 p.m. to restore at least some traffic flow while emergency personnel remained on the scene a few minutes longer to clear the rest of the crash.
