GREENE COUNTY, TN : Authorities investigating hit-and-run on Interstate 81 in Greene County on Friday, 28th July 2023

Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run that happened on Interstate 81 in Greene County on Friday afternoon.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Administrative Sergeant Matt Blankenship the hit-and-run caused injuries and an air ambulance responded. The Tennessee Department of Transportation SmartWay map showed that Interstate 81 southbound at mile marker 23 was shut down.

Lanes have reopened, but traffic is congested for several miles, according to the map.
