Navarre,FL : Man arrested after crashing stolen car on January, Saturday 20th 2018

A man was arrested Saturday after he wrecked a car that had been reported stolen in Fort Walton Beach earlier that morning.

Slater Glen Allen Cole, 24, of Mary Esther, crashed a 2015 Hyundai Elantra on Costa Verde Court in Navarre at 10:45 a.m. when the car left the road, hit two embankments, a concrete drain, a mailbox and four trash cans, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car had been reported stolen from the Whataburger restaurant on U.S. Highway 98 in Fort Walton Beach after the owner left the keys in the car, the FHP reported.

Cole was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center to be evaluated for minor injuries. The FHP reported that Salter said he crashed because he had only one arm.

He was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, driving while license suspended and failure to maintain lane, the FHP said.
