WATONGA, OK : 72-year-old man was injured in a three-vehicle collision on Monday, 9th April 2018
A 72-year-old man was injured Monday evening in a three-vehicle collision east of Watonga, Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting.
The collision occurred at 7:20 p.m. on Oklahoma 3 and County Road N2590, 1.8 miles east of Watonga, according to an OHP report.
Charles Milton Swanegan, of Watonga, was eastbound on Oklahoma 3 in a 1976 Cadillac Deville, according to the report. Valentin Caldazillaz Jr., 22, of Sunray, Texas, was behind Swanegan in a 2005 Chevy truck. Nathan Loren Parham, 45, of Watonga, was westbound on Oklahoma 3 in a 2017 GMC truck.
Swanegan slowed to make a left turn onto County Road N2590 and was struck from behind by Caldazillaz's vehicle, pushing the Cadillac into the westbound lane of traffic. Parham's vehicle then struck the driver’s side rear of the Cadillac.
Swanegan was taken from the scene by Watonga EMS to Mercy Hospital in Watonga, where he was admitted in stable condition with internal body, arm and head injuries, according to the report. Caldazillaz and Parham were not injured.
Swanegan and Parham's conditions were listed in the report as "apparently normal." Caldazillaz's condition was listed as "odor of alcoholic beverage." The cause of collision was "following too closely."
Seatbelts were equipped and in use in all three vehicles.
