Northwest Vigo County, IN : One killed in crash on U.S. 150 in Libertyville in Northwest Vigo County on Thursday, 6th September 2018

Vigo County deputies are investigating a crash that claimed a life early this morning on U.S. 150 in Libertyville in Northwest Vigo County.

A few minutes after 2 a.m., deputies were dispatched on a report of a vehicle fire. They arrived to find the vehicle had been involved in a violent crash and had caught fire.

The driver is believed to be a 28-year-old woman from Paris, Illinois. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

Because of the fire, final determination of the woman's identity is pending.

The sheriff's office said it appears the vehicle left the roadway while traveling north on U.S. 150. It appears the driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike an embankment. The vehicle then returned to the roadway and caught fire.

The sheriff's office said that because of the vehicle's condition, deputies could not determine if the driver was restrained at the time of the crash.
