ELKHART COUNTY, IN : 1 dead, 1 seriously injured in Elkhart County crash on Sunday, 30th June 2024

One person is dead, and another person is seriously injured after a car crashed early Sunday morning outside of Bristol.

The crash happened around 5:50 a.m. on State Road 120 just west of County Road 131.

Police say a Honda Accord was heading west on State Road 120 when it left the road and hit a mailbox and a tree.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 26-year-old Fernando Diaz Calderon of Elkhart, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also say a 27-year-old Elkhart man who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries to his entire body.

The crash remains under investigation.
