Norfolk, VA : One dead, another seriously injured in one-car crash in Chesapeake on Friday night, February 3, 2017

A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Chesapeake Friday night, according to police.

Police said they responded to the accident near the intersection of Indian River Road and Oaklette Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday.

Officers found a Ford pickup truck that had hit a tree. The driver, an 81-year-old man, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General with serious injuries and died soon after, according to a release from the Chesapeake Police Department.

His identity has not yet been released.

A woman who was a passenger in the truck also suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
