Wichita,KS : Off-duty Wichita police officer killed in collision west of Wichita on April, Friday 27th 2018

An off-duty Wichita police officer was killed and his son was critically injured in a traffic collision west of Wichita Friday night, authorities said.

The collision was reported just before 8:15 p.m. on 21st Street at 167th Street West, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said.


A white pickup was traveling south on 167th, commonly known as Colwich Road, when it pulled out onto 21st Street in front of a motorcycle coming east, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said.

The motorcycle slammed into the side of the pickup. The officer was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 10-year-old son was taken to a Wichita hospital.
