Tinley Park, IL : A man was charged after colliding on Monday, 2nd July 2018

A man was charged after colliding with a Will County sheriff’s deputy responding to a call Monday in Joliet, according to Joliet police.

Gilberto Jesus Galvon, 46, of Joliet, was charged with failure to yield the right of way and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle after he allegedly disregarded the squad’s emergency lights and siren as both approached the intersection of Center and Ruby streets at 5:51 p.m., police said in a news release.

The deputy was transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life threating injuries and later released, said sheriff spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer.

Joliet police said two other people also were transported to St. Joseph, but they did not know the extent of the injuries.

The deputy was eastbound on Ruby Street, and Galvon, who was southbound on Center in a Honda Odyssey, initially stopped at the stop sign but then entered the intersection, Joliet police said.
