Jamul, CA : Four people injured after a crash on State Route 94 and Otay Lakes Road on Saturday, Nov 21, 2015

A crash that sent four people to the hospital is under investigation by The California Highway Patrol.

Rescue crews responded to State Route 94 and Otay Lakes Road, just before 3 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses told 10News the car lost control after slamming through a Border Patrol checkpoint near Jamul. Police said it hit a tour bus carrying passengers and then crashed into a guardrail. All six people inside the bus were not injured.

Four people were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. It is unclear at the moment if the people inside the vehicle are American citizens.

Both directions of State Route 94 were closed for about an hour as a SIG Alert was issued by CHP.

An investigation is underway to determine why the vehicle fled.
