ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO : Man hit by car while walking on Blanchette Bridge over the Missouri River on Sunday, December, 3rd 2017

A man was struck on the Blanchette Bridge shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The man was still alive, but details about his condition were not available. The driver of the vehicle that struck him stayed at the scene.

On Sunday night, Cpl. Juston Wheetley said it was too early in the investigation to know why the man was walking along the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 70 bridge.

The Missouri Department of Transportation website warned drivers to expect delays in the area after the crash.
