Olean, N.Y : Teenage girl struck in hit-and-run accident on West State Street in Olean Wednesday afternoon, January 4, 2017

A 14-year-old Olean girl was struck by a car and taken to Olean General Hospital after a hit-and-run accident Wednesday afternoon on West State Street.

According to a witness, a black SUV or hatchback was making a left onto West State Street from South Third Street around 3:18 p.m. when it struck the female pedestrian, who was crossing West State Street from North Third Street. After initially stopping, the vehicle allegedly fled the scene.

The driver is described by a witness as a white female with long dark hair and wearing a purple North Face jacket. The last four digits of the vehicle's license plate were 3704, according to the witness.

According to the police report, the victim was conscious and complained of pain to her hip and upper leg. She was taken to Olean General by ambulance.
