Amarillo, TX : Local woman dies in 2 vehicle crash in Randall County on Thursday, May 19, 2016

An Amarillo woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Randall County, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Karen Lester, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on SL-335 about three miles southeast of Amarillo.

According to DPS, Lester attempted to make an illegal U-turn and while doing so turn into the path of a 2015 Ford-350 pickup truck towing a horse trailer.

The driver of the truck was identified as Jeffrey Carlisle, 39, of Seminole. He was not injured.

DPS said Carlisle’s truck crashed into the driver’s side of Lester’s 2011 Nissan Murano.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and road conditions were normal at the time of the crash, DPS said.
