Blackberry Twp, IL : 55-year-old Naperville man injured in Kane County traffic crash on Sunday night, April 3, 2016
A Naperville man remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition after the pickup truck he was driving flipped over Sunday night on a road near Elburn, according to a release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
Keith Carlson, 55, was taken first to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva and then airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to the release.
A spokeswoman for Good Samaritan on Tuesday confirmed Carlson was hospitalized there. His condition was critical, she said.
Carlson lives on the 900 block of Fairway Drive, in the Country Lakes area of Naperville's far northwest side. He was injured just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Hughes Road, just west of Bunker Road, in unincorporated area of Blackberry Township.
The release indicated Carlson was alone and driving his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck east on Hughes Road when "for an unknown reason, (he) drove onto the south shoulder of Hughes Road." The pickup then crossed both lanes of Hughes Road, ran up an embankment on its north side and flipped over, the release said.
"The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Kane County sheriff's detectives and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team," the release said. Authorities "have not yet determined if drugs, alcohol, speed or texting played a role in this crash."
