Chattanooga,TN : Valley Head woman killed, three others injured Monday in head-on crash on January, Monday 15th 2018
A Valley Head, Ala., woman was killed Monday in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 11 north of Hammondville in DeKalb County.
Margaret R. Bailey, 71, was killed when a 2002 Toyota SUV, driven by an unnamed 17-year-old from Fawn, Ga., who had a 17-year-old passenger also in the car, crashed head-on with the vehicle Bailey was in, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Curtis Summerville. Both teens were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The teen's Toyota crossed the centerline and collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt in which Bailey was a passenger, Summerville said. The driver of the Chevrolet, 71-year-old Jack Bailey, also of Valley Head, was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The crash happened about 6:25 p.m. Monday about 11 miles north of Hammondville. Troopers continue to investigate, Summerville said.
