DENMARK, NY : One-car motor vehicle accident on Doran Road on April, Friday 14th 2017

A Lewis County man is dead after a Friday one-car motor vehicle accident on Doran Road, state police in Carthage say.

Police say around 5:30 p.m., a 2015 Kia driven by 28-year-old Doran Road resident, Alex Knittel, was traveling north on the road at high rate of speed.

Knittel lost control of the vehicle and drove off the west shoulder. The vehicle crossed a ravine before striking an earth embankment.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
