A 21-year-old woman was killed Saturday after the car she was driving hit a utility pole, the Florida Highway Patrol said.About 4:50 p.m., Brandi Schley of Port Richey, was heading west in a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant on State Road 54 when she lost control of the car, which veered off the road and slammed into a utility pole just west of Old County Road 54, troopers said.

Schley died at the scene. A passenger, Thomas Schley, 25, of New Port Richey, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with serious injuries. An investigation was ongoing Sunday.
