DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies report that two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 69 south of the 336 mile marker. According to investigators, a car driven by Veronica Ramirez, 32, of Wabash, was headed south at about 2:25 p.m. when it swerved to the left and entered the berm on the east side of the highway. The driver appeared to overcorrect, they said, and the car hit a car driven by Jessalyn Hageman, 36, of Bryan, Ohio, which also was southbound in the right lane. The car driven by Ramirez ran into the ditch on the west side of the highway and rolled, coming to rest on its top. The car Hageman was driving came to a stop in the right lane. Ramirez had a cut to her knee; a passenger in that car, Alyssa Sapienza, 31, also of Wabash, had a cut to her head. Deputies said that both women were taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Hageman was not injured. Investigators report that they are still working on the wreck, and they believe alcohol was involved.
