Akron, OH : Akron police Sgt. charged in crash that hurt wife on Wednesday, 24th August, 2016
Police say that Akron Police Sergeant Vince Yurick has been charged in connection with a serious crash in Akron just before 9 p.m. that seriously injured his wife.
Yurick was charged with aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle while impaired, operating a vehicle while impaired with an illegal alcohol limit, reckless operation, failure to control and speed, according to police.
That night, police say Yurick was driving his 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 on Canterbury Circle when he lost control and went left of center, striking the east curb edge and a tree in front of 2191 Canterbury Circle.
Yurick, who is assigned to the department's Intelligence Uint, and his wife both suffered injuries in the crash and police say Yurick’s wife’s injuries are serious.
Speed and alcohol are factors in the accident, according to police.
Yurick will be arraigned at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in Akron Municipal Court and is currently on paid administrative leave per the union contract, police said
