Chicago, IL : Man, 65, killed in U-Haul crash on South Side bridge on Sunday, December, 17th 2017

A man was killed early Sunday when he crashed a U-Haul van on a bridge near the South Side Bridgeport neighborhood, according to Chicago Police..

The 65-year-old was speeding north about 2:30 a.m. when the U-Haul he was driving hit the median of a bridge in the 2400 block of South Halsted, police said.

He was initially taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office didn’t immediately confirm the death. No one else was injured.

The Major Accidents Unit was conducting an investigation into the crash.
