Millsboro, DE : Driver of stolen minivan dies following head-on crash on Del. 26, just south of Betts Road on Friday, 3rd January, 2020
A tractor-trailer crash that shut down Del. 26, near Millsboro, for about four hours Friday morning killed one man and injured another, Delaware State Police said.
The wreck occurred just before 7:30 a.m. on Del. 26, just south of Betts Road. It shut down Del. 26 between Whitesville and Line Roads until about noon.According to police, the 48-year-old victim was driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan, which had just been reported stolen from a Royal Farms gas station in Georgetown, south on Del. 26 when he veered out of his lane and drove head-on into a 2019 Mack tractor-trailer that was towing an "enclosed tanker with a soybean byproduct."
The minivan's driver was not wearing a seat belt and died on scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
