HIBBING, MN : A multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday, June 21, 2017
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle crash on the Iron Range.
Authorities were called to the southbound lanes of Highway 169 on the Mitchell Bridge in Hibbing just after 9:30 Wednesday morning.
According to MnDOT, the bridge was being swept in the left hand lane, causing the lane to be closed.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a street sweeper with an early warning crew were working when a 2002 Saturn came into the work zone and hit the 2013 International Plow and then hit the sweeper.
The car hit the sweeper, causing the driver of the car to be hospitalized, and the sweeper driver to be checked for whiplash and other injuries.
The State Patrol has not released information on the number of people injured, or the extent of the injuries.
All traffic on Southbound Highway 169 was re-routed to Grace Road, which is roughly one mile from where the crash happened on the bridge.
Crews cleared the area just before 1:30 p.m.
