Teen struck, killed on Blue Diamond Road identified

Authorities released the name of a 14-year-old who died after she and two other girls were hit by a truck on Blue Diamond Road Saturday.
The Clark County Coroner's Office said Helen Liu died as a result of an accident.
Nevada Highway Patrol said the Liu and two 13-year-old girls were not in a marked crosswalk when they were crossing Blue Diamond near Cimarron Road when they were hit just before 8:30 p.m.
Troopers said the other teens were rushed to University Medical Center. One of them was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The other teen was in stable condition, according to NHP.
Troopers said the man driving the truck that hit the pedestrians was not speeding or suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was not expected to face charges.
Neighbors in the area said they have seen too many tragic accidents at that intersection.
It's horrible! Horrible! I see kids running to beat the cars all the time," said Greg Sacks, who lives around the corner from the accident site.
It's just a matter of time until the next person gets hurt," Sacks added.
He and his wife were pushing to get a traffic light or crosswalk installed at the intersection so they don't have to see anyone else get hurt. The scene of the wreck is not even a block away from a cross left in memory of another pedestrian who was hit and killed last June.
NHP said pedestrians should always wear bright clothing and make sure drivers can see them when crossing a road, especially at night.
