Bellaire, MI : Montcalm man dies in crash in Pierson Township on Monday night, July 11, 2016

A Montcalm County man died late Monday night in a two-car traffic crash in Pierson Township.

Frederick Fahner, 28, of Pierson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Stanton and Maple Hill roads, state police from the Lakeview post said.

Troopers were called to the accident shortly after 11 p.m. and determined that Fahner was driving north on Maple Hill Road when his vehicle was hit by a car driven by Nathan Mackenzie, 19, of Pierson.

Mackenzie was driving west on Stanton Road, police said.

Both men were treated by emergency medical personnel at the scene.

Mackenzie was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department, Sand Lake Fire Department, Montcalm County EMS and Safety First Towing assisted at the scene.
