Tucson, AZ : 2-year-old girl succumbs to injuries from vehicle collision at Valencia and Palo Verde roads on Thursday, OCT 22, 2015

Tucson police say a 2-year-old girl who was injured in a vehicle collision last week has died.

Police spokesman Pete Dugan says Asha Namagara succumbed to her injuries at a hospital Sunday.

Authorities say the collision occurred Thursday around 12:30 p.m. at Valencia and Palo Verde roads.

According to officers, a Ford Taurus carrying two adults, a 4-year-old girl and Namagara collided with an oncoming Nissan Versa that was making a left turn.

The Taurus' other three occupants and the driver of the Versa were all transported with minor injuries.

Dugan says neither child was restrained in a car seat.

Police say impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident.

The incident marks the 48th traffic-related fatality in Tucson this year.
