HAINES CITY, FL : 1 dead, 1 injured in crash on U.S. 27 on Saturday, 25th April, 2020
A Haines City man is dead and a woman suffered serious injuries in an early morning crash on U.S. 27 Saturday.
The crash occurred just after midnight, a half mile north of Lucerne Park Road in Haines City, when for unknown reasons a white 2007 Chevy 2500 pickup truck traveling north in the outside lane swerved off the road.
The truck overturned several times, hit a barbed wire fence and came to rest in a cow pasture on the east side of the road.
The driver of the Chevy, 51-year-old Sandra Mayberry of Haines City, was taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center and is in stable condition, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office crash reports.
Her passenger, 57-year-old Michael Browning, also of Haines City, was taken to LRHMC, where he died.
The Sheriff’s Office said Mayberry was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but Browning was not.
The Florida Department of Transportation helped PCSO deputies by rerouting traffic around the crash site. The road was closed for about four hours.
