Sherwood, AR : Woman injured in afternoon wreck on 82 on Friday, November 25th 2016

One woman was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries Friday after two cars collided on U.S. Highway 82 in Sherman.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said the wreck occurred at approximately noon when the female driver of a silver Mercedes sedan, estimated by troopers to be in her 70s, attempted to enter the westbound lanes of Highway 82 from Bethany Road, but failed to yield to an oncoming Kia sedan driven by a woman in her 20s. The driver of the Kia sedan was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Mercedes, sending both vehicles onto the shoulder.

DPS troopers and Sherman Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and the driver of the Mercedes was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with undisclosed injuries. DPS troopers said they expected to file a citation to the woman for her failure to yield. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.

Troopers cautioned other motorists to drive safely over the busy holiday weekend.
