Saratoga Springs, NY : One dead, two injured in Malta crash on Monday morning, August 8, 2016
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in the town of Malta on Monday morning. Deputies say a call came in at about 11:25 a.m. reporting a serious injury collision on Van Aernam Road. A vehicle was located in a wooded area just south of 118 Van Aernem Road upon arrival and the driver, Edwin K. Lansing of Malta was pronounced dead at the scene. Two boys, ages 7 and 9, who were riding as passengers were also located and removed with minor injuries.
Police say Lansing was traveling south when the car left the roadway and struck several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Saratoga County Coroner Daniel Kuhn. The children were taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation.
The collision is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office collision reconstruction unit.
The accident remains under investigation and no determination as to the cause has been reached. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Malta-Stillwater EMS and Malta Ridge Fire Department.
