LEE, MA : Truck driver injured in wreck on Mass Turnpike near Lee on Tuesday, 13th August 2019

The driver of a dump truck was injured Tuesday afternoon when his vehicle jumped two guardrails on the Massachusetts Turnpike and struck at least one other vehicle before crashing into a flooded ravine.

The truck was heading westbound near Lee about 12:30 p.m. when the driver lost control and jumped the first divider, according to state police Trooper James D'Angelis. The vehicle struck an eastbound mobile home and possibly another vehicle before striking another guardrail and landing in the ravine.

The driver, who has not been identified, was conscious and talking to Lee firefighters as they rescued him. He was transported to a Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation. The driver was cited for an unspecified reason, police said.

It was not clear who owned the truck; which did not appear to have been carrying a load at the time of the crash.
