PLEASANT PLAINS, IL : Woman killed, 7 injured in crash on near Pleasant Plains on Thursday, December 22nd 2016
A 61-year-old woman was killed and seven other Beardstown residents were injured Thursday afternoon when two vehicles collided nearly head-on on Illinois 125 east of Pleasant Plains.
Illinois State Police said the woman, whose identity had not been released as of Thursday night, was a front-seat passenger in one of the vehicles.
The crash occurred at 4:17 p.m. approximately half a mile west of Richland Road.
According to a state police news release, Roberto Atriano-Rodriguez, 59, was driving a mini-van eastbound, while Omar Gayosso-Fernandez, 25, was driving a passenger car westbound when the mini-van veered into the westbound lanes for an unknown reason.
Also in the mini-van were Jacquelyn Atriano, 14, and Samantha Atriano, 3, state police said. Riding in the car were an infant, Nikkolai Fernandez, Adrian Fernandez, 4, and Maria Rodriguez, 24. All were reportedly taken to Memorial Medical Center.
No additional information was available on the extent of their injuries.
The section of Illinois 125 between the Clayville Historical Site and Richland Road was closed for several hours Thursday evening as state police continued their investigation into the crash.
