Police in Gilbert say they've arrested a 17-year-old driver in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist.
Police spokesman Jesse Sanger say the driver allegedly struck 73-year-old Calvin Ray Sapp, who was dragged at least 75 yards and was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday morning.
The name of the teenager is being withheld because he's a juvenile.
An off-duty Phoenix police officer headed to work is credited with spotting the suspect's car.
The officer wasn't aware of the collision at the time, but saw a car with severe damage in the area and notified Gilbert police.
