Valdosta ,GA : Police identify man killed in Smith Avenue wreck on August, Monday 14th 2017

A fatal accident occurred Monday morning in the 200 block of Smith Avenue in Valdosta, according to police.

The accident involved a single vehicle, a Ford F-150, which appeared to have run off the road and overturned, said Lt. Adam Bembry with the Valdosta Police Department.

The truck was only carrying the driver, an older male, Bembry said.

Lowndes County Coroner Austin Fiveash said while the death is still under investigation, it appears that prior medical problems played a factor.

When EMS arrived on scene, the man was having trouble breathing, Bembry said. He was transported to South Georgia Medical Center and pronounced dead there, police said.

Authorities are not releasing the man's name until his family has been notified. Bembry said at this point, there is no evidence whatsoever that alcohol was involved in the deadly crash.
