EATON TWP, OH : A two-car crash on Saturday, July 15, 2017
A woman was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after a two-car crash Saturday night at the intersection of Island and Capel roads.
A mother and her young daughter were traveling northbound on Island Road, in a silver Kia Forte, when a Mitsubishi Lancer, traveling eastbound on Capel Road, failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled in front of the Kia, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The mother and child were taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for precautionary measures but appeared to be relatively uninjured, said a trooper on the scene.
The passenger in the Mitsubishi had lacerations on her face and appeared to have hit the windshield and was flown to MetroHealth. The driver of the car declined treatment, according to troopers.
According to troopers, the driver of the Mitsubishi is suspected to be under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash, but the cause of the crash is under investigation. The driver of the Mitsubishi was cited with operating a vehicle while under the influence and failure to yield.
Troopers at the scene did not disclose the names of those involved.
